CAGE, led by Oaktec, focus on reducing diesel pollution by producing a Clean Air Gas Engine to be used on construction sites. They're helping power welfare cabins on construction sites along the HS2 route with solar panels backed up with bio LPG instead of diesel.
CAGE is one of the Innovation Pilots, under UKRI's Clean Air programme. The programme aims to bring together leading researchers from across atmospheric, medical and social science to better predict exposure to air pollution and its effects on vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.
It will identify practical and usable solutions to air pollution to help policy makers and business protect health and work towards a cleaner economy.

The Clean Air Gas Engine: reducing diesel pollution on construction sites including HS2
Diesel is widely used by the construction industry to power small machinery like generators. Projects need access to a sustainable energy source and they don't have access to mains main. Diesel has historically been the answer, because it's cheap, but it's one of the reasons why construction is one of the UK's biggest emitters
