CAGE Technologies (CTL)has launched a new 6kW hydrogen fuelled generator at Kirkwall Harbour on Orkney

CAGE Technologies (CTL) has launched a new 6kW hydrogen fuelled generator at Kirkwall Harbour on Orkney with partners EMEC, Orkney Council and Advante.

CTL developed the zero emission hydrogen engine and generator within the Innovate UK funded HIMET project and integrated it in a new Advante supplied building with solar-battery-hybrid power to be used as a passenger reception area for the Orkney cruise ship terminal. The generator starts automatically to provide top-up power for the battery system and works in harmony with the solar PV charge supply.

The CAGE system will work in an extended trial throughout the 2022 summer season providing shoe-side facilities for the passengers of nearly 200 visiting cruise ships.
